School Uniform

The school uniform is very much encouraged, as it gives the children a sense of pride and helps them to feel that they belong to the school.  The school colours are royal blue and grey.

Safeguarding

Safety of our children is our top priority, and we take a systematic and robust approach to the issue at the school. All staff, governors and any adult in regular contact with pupils at the school is CRB checked. We have strong “eSafety” guidelines including a home-school agreement around safe Internet usage, and all school Internet usage is filtered through DfE approved service providers to ensure appropriate content controls are in place. We have Fire Risk and Health & Safety assessments in place, and full risk assessments are completed ahead of school trips and residential visits.

School Hours

The school day is divided into two sessions.  The times of the sessions are:

Key Stage One      Key Stage Two

Morning Session    8.55 am - 12 noon        8.55 am - 12.15 pm

Afternoon Session 1.15 pm- 3.15 pm        1.15 pm - 3.15 pm

There are breaks of 15 minutes in the morning for all children and in the afternoon for Key Stage  only.

The Beginning of the School Day

Parents are asked to bring their children into the school playground, using the side gate, and hand them over to Mrs Evans, Mrs Godfrey or Mrs Tombe who will be on duty from 8.50 am.  Staff are not legally responsible for children until 8.50 am.  At 8.55 am a bell will be rung, children line up and wait to be collected by their teacher.  Registration takes place at 9.00 am.

The End of the School Day

Children are dismissed at 3.15 pm.    If parents are not waiting outside, children return into school and wait with an adult until they are collected.  Steppingley and Milton Bryan children are escorted to the bus by Mrs Tombe.
