Communication
The School communicates regularly with parents and carers through in a variety of ways including letters home in schools bags & mobile phone text messaging. We hold information evenings to cover specific areas of activity –in the last year we have had sessions on Creativity and the Curriculum, Early Years Foundation Stage, the SoundsWrite program we use for spelling, the transition to Year 1 from Reception, pre-residential trip information evenings & Academy conversion.
We carry out regular surveys of parents and children as to their experience of the school.
Parents are encouraged to talk to our staff and Head Teacher though we ask that time is booked at the end of the school day for discussions.
Consultation
We hold parents’ evenings two times a year and we hope that parents will come into school to discuss their child’s progress. Parents are welcome to come into school at other times if they wish to talk to one of the members of staff, though an appointment arranged for after school would be preferred. We hold an open afternoon in the Summer Term for parents and friends of the school and an annual report for each child is sent home in July.
Parental involvement
We do not have an official Parent/Teacher Association, as it has not been necessary to formalise the excellent relationship between parents and the school. Parents have always supported this school with great enthusiasm and commitment. We are a fund raising committee of parents who organise many events through the year such as a Christmas Fayre, a Summer Fete, discos, quiz evenings, an annual “Leavers vs. Stayers” Cricket match and so on which has always resulted in a strong social links between parents and the school.
We are very pleased to have parental help in school. There are many ways this may be useful - helping make and mend equipment, taking small groups for activities such as cooking, art and craftwork, sewing, hearing readers, developing library skills, or accompanying classes going out on trips.
If you can offer time on a regular basis or have a particular interest or expertise that you could share, please come and see a member of staff.
